Product catalog
The product catalog is the structured, organized set of all the products or services a company offers. It is the central domain for selling, online as well as in physical stores.
What a product catalog contains
A product catalog holds the essential information for each reference: name, description, technical characteristics, price, visuals, categorization, availability and identifiers (SKU, EAN). It can be declined by distribution channel.
Managing and optimizing the catalog
A well-managed product catalog improves the buying experience, makes products easier to find and boosts conversion. Managing it takes rigour, regular updates and, often, tools such as a PIM to guarantee consistency and quality.
Use case
A DIY retailer manages a catalog of 50,000 references. Without a dedicated tool, the teams spend weeks updating each channel by hand (website, mobile app, print catalog, marketplace). With a PIM, the catalog is centralized: a single update propagates everywhere automatically, saving 200 hours of work a month.
