E-commerce (electronic commerce) covers all commercial transactions carried out remotely through electronic interfaces, mainly over the internet. It takes in the buying and selling of products or services online.

There are several models: B2C (selling to consumers), B2B (selling between companies), C2C (selling between individuals) and D2C (selling directly from manufacturer to consumer). Each model follows its own commercial and marketing logic.
